Storm Success In Under 17 South West Trials
Jun 19, 2009, 10:07 pm

Sunday 14th June was a huge day for the majority of the Bristol Storm boys and girls under seventeen's.

Several of the lads travelled up to Cirencester, and a large number of the Storm girls squad attended their trials at City Academy, both for a five hour training session, hopefully to become part of the South West squad that was due to compete in Sheffield and Nottingham, respectively at the end of July.

At the end of the day, the Storm juniors did the club proud with several of

09/10 Pieces Coming Together - U14s Head Coach Appointed
May 24, 2009, 2:03 pm
It was announced yesterday that Kelvin Williams would be coaching the Bristol Storm Under Fourteens Boys in the 2009/10 season. 'We feel that Kelvin has come on considerably during the last twelve months, we have purposely overloaded him this year to see how he would adjust with the responsibility, and he has impressed everyone that he has worked with.' 'There were numerous applications that needed to be considered, but Kelvin was always a front runner not only because of his committment to the club during the season but also because of the hard work that he has put into the coaching...

Women's training - with several of the players away due to holidays, work and re-location, you would think the session would be lacking numbers, but not this year.

The Storm women's national league squad is already looking packed and over twelve deep, and if the season goes like the way the session finished then we are in for an entertaining year.

Todays session was a great session combining fundamental work with defence.  The fundamental part of the session was led by recently appoint

Saturday training is somewhat of an amazing three hours to watch, approximately ninety minutes of intense fitness, followed by ninety minutes of shooting.

After the normal three circuits, several of the players commented that they had started to find it easier, though admited their legs were dead.  To this Coach Brock offered a challenge to the players - Do the circuit one last time but in reverse.

As always this one extra challenge is never mandatory, but as always every single player

Trials were this year all held on one day starting at 1pm for the U12s all the way through to 9 for the Senior Men, a long day for the coaches but Bear, Bourne, Colbron and Francis were in their element running the show.

The younger age group was a hive of activity and it was great to see so many enthusiastic youngsters with great potential all keen to play for the Storm teams this year.

Probably the most frantic session for the coaches was between 3 and 5, when two courts were full of unde

Today is a long day for the Coaches, starting at 1 through till 9.  Coach Brock had the sixteens working hard on defence today, a tough session for the youngsters on yet another hot day but once again the players responded well.

Coach Colbron had the girls academy concentrating on their offensive production, which will be their biggest challenge in the forthcoming friendlies.

Unfortunately the last session did not finish well for Coach Bourne, after a good comeback season in 2008/09, after missing a year with a

So it was 29 degrees outside City Academy, and inside was even hotter, with all the fans and air conditioning on.

Today was the first of the many open pre-season fitness sessions for the players already committed to Storm for the 2009/10 season, and even in this heat the players worked hard.

I have to be honest I broke into a sweat watching the session, but the effort put in by the players with out much encouragement was impressive.  Even when Coach gave the players an option
