This was always going to be a tough game for the men, but recent training sessions had brought about a new focus and the seventeen point defeat against Plymouth might have been the lowest ebb for the team three weeks ago, but since then the improvements have been obvious.
The team led by junior point guard Jesse Fynn-Garbrah opened up brilliantly, with offence running smoothly the shooters were getting the ball where they wanted it when they wanted it and it showed as both Williams and Morris didnt look like missing. Although Storm were scoring at will the defensive end was proving a problem, and cheap fouls kept Bath in the game as the quarter closed 24 : 24.
The second quarter again saw the Storm shooters making their shots both inside and outside, with Williams draining from shots from a different post-code. The big shots opened up the Bath defence which allowed the big fellas to go to work. Defence again proved to be a problem with more cheap fouls and easy baskets given because of poor defensive positioning. Half-time score 38:40 to Bath.
The third and fourth quarter was very much Storm's but fouls kept Bath in the game, but you had the feeling that Coach Brock was always in control as he rotated the bench to see everyone he put in perform probably the best they have all season, Mundy dominated the boards and had a couple of solid blocks, Pritchard played aggressively on the offensive and scored some solid points, not bad for an u16. Osikoya is playing within the structure and looking the part, but with all this the highlight probably was the return of Chris Bourne from a long term injury, although not his old self and with only a few minutes it was good to have him back on the floor.
Dan Morris and Kelvin Williams finished the game as they started it draining big shots, and ironically they both faked threes Williams finished a mid range jumper and Morris fnished with a runner to really seal the game, although Bath tried to make it exciting by hitting a three with a few seconds left to make it closer than it should have been/
